koma & bones - black satsuma ****
tcr, august 2003

A Black Satsuma (8:03)
B Basic Emotion (7:50)

another great breakbeat release, the only problem is that i don't remember what the big shot in these songs were. i only know, that she whispered to me i've got this at home, so if you want to have it... of course. so i went to the next record.

doug lazy - let it roll (pussy2000 Remix) **
jalapeno, september 2002

Let It Roll
Let It Roll (Instrumental)

they say: Alternative pressing of this rework of Doug Lazy's 1989 hip house classic, this time remixed by Pussy 2000. Corker. I say: too housy, too dumb.

soul of man - back2back EP *****
fingerlickin, august 2003

A Kickback
AA Outback

they say:SOUL OF MAN'S LONG AWAITED NEW RELEASE IS HERE: PROGRESSIVE ACID SYNTHS, SLAMMIN BASS AND CUT-UP VOCALS ALL ROLLED IN WITH THIER TRADEMARK BEATS.

have you ever been waiting in the record shop to buy the brand new records? 'cos yesterday we did. that's a special feeling, when the postillion arrives with that big white blank box. these are fingerlickin vinyls says dj caretaker, and shows me the content. the case is full of magic, glittering fresh black vinyls, even before a noted dj should have touched. soul of man, stereo8, plump djs... i was really hesitating which one to buy, but i was sure in this one. it's that smartsoul of man sound, great drums and beats, bass, well.. i can't explain it, both tracks are great. i mean really great. best buy. and i'm really proud to have this one.

stereo 8 - groove diggin' / get above yourself ****
fingerlickin, 2003

A Groove Diggin
AA Get Above Yourself

great record, but Soul of Man was better. this one will be the next i'll buy. they say:Terrifyingly funky fat-ass grooves from Stereo 8 on yet another awesome 12" from Fingerlickin' Records - the A-side should be locked up for threatening behaviour.

Sidewinder - Ego Riot / Missing Link ***
fenetik, 11 august 2003

Ego Riot
Missing Link

...and this tiny 7". Yepp, it's a nice little 7". It's just a chilled break, nothing really special, but everybody do sometimes buy a record, just becouse it's got a nice sleeve art work. this little one has got a style. And it's printed in the Czech Republic, in the same manufacture where the Karel Gott LP's were printed. That's a perversion, i know.

adam freeland - tripped out (live in chicago) ****

hmmm... v says this isn't a good freeland set. why? after listening it for the fourth time it's getting just better and better. well, he's been in his dark downtempo mood, so all serene. you can't party all the time loudly losing your brain. it's for the quiet moments, for the silent parties. i'd enjoy it live as well. download starts 5...4...3...2...1...now.

best moments:
evil nine - crooked
(and the one after that)
freeland - burn the clock
kelis(?) vs tone lock - wild thang

soutien gorge - emotiv *and a half... maybe
cdr, 2003

01. 2002. hmm :)
02. Hányszor mondjam, hogy elég legyen?
03. Majdnem végleges
04. Viszonzatlan
05. Utolsó neked

ok, i agree i've got preconceptions. first of all: i'm not that big experimental-music expert, aphex twin or squarepusher weren't my fave artist never. second: i remember this guy from 030301, and that day he made me very angry. well, this tiny little album is just a compilation of notes and silent beeps. i miss that smashing emotion, that kindness, that humor and that conception i feel in music made by Tigrics. by the way Tigrics. his effect on S.G's music is more than just an influence, track 02's like a copycat of Tigrics musical joke "nem kell mindig keseregni". about the cover art i can't tell you anything, i'd be prejudiced. nice try, but i didn't like this album. it's not my style, this is

3. Brand New Day
4. I Shall Sing
5. Kabala
6. In My Life
7. Down On The Corner
8. Ibande
9. Measure The Valley
10. Tululu

miriam makeba, the south african godess, how i missed you since A lost her LP. how i missed these african melodies packed in seventies jazz style, that pata-pata feeling, your powerful lovely voice, your survival and happiness in your sweet african songs. how i love you cover my fave beatles song in my life or that classic one for what it's worth. now i got you.

freeland - now and them *****
marine parade, september 2003

1. We Want Your Soul
2. Mind Killer
3. Burn The Clock
4. Big Wednesday
5. Heel ‘n’ Toe
6. Physical World
7. Supernatural Thing
8. Reality 3-D
9. L.I.F.E
10. Nowism

today's the day, now and them's out now in stores. mr freeland did the same as kosheen did to drum and bass, he made mainstream from breakbeat. well done, adam, this album's an overground masterpiece. o.k, we (adam freeland fans) knew a lot of these songs from his earlier sets, but i don't care, this album wouldn't be so coherent without the dark and powerful "burn the clock" (it's like army of me by björk) or the original version of the party anthem "supernatural thing". must have album of the year, like un-cut

seal - IV ***
warner, september 2003

Let Me Roll
Get It Together
Love's Divine
Waiting For You
My Vision
Don't Make Me Wait
Touch
Where There's Cold
Loneliest Star
Heavenly
Tinsel Town
Reprise

how i feel sorry for washing the dishes yesterday, cos this one could have fit.

today, one of my old fave artist seal came out with his 4th solo album. i was thinkin, let me check, cos his latest album human being showed some signs to go to digital. this time, under the arrangement of his good old pawl, trevor horn he's back to his second album, and that kiss from a rose style. hey, seal, it's 2003! come on, you could have been good!!! boring, overemotional ballads follows some funk based future-called songs. ok. i agree, the first "hit" song heavenly is really a good track, he sould have been follow this line... maybe the remixes. promise me, seal, you'll let remix these boring tracks!

pest - necessary measures ***
ninja tune, march 2003

1. Chicken Spit
2. Duke Kerb Crawler
3. Jefferson Shuffle
4. Heard Yer Bird Moved
5. Slap on Tap
6. St. Pest
7. Dr Umz
8. Moody Hoe
9. Murda
10. Relief

silent sunday, so what's the tune, mr dj? well, this pest is kinda good in mood, it runs over and over, it's the "chicken spit" begins like a hip-hop beebop thing, but very childish. it' not stiff but strainded jazz, very unnatural for me. the second one "duke kerb" is more dynamic, the samples made of bells are just beautiful and unforgettable, then the third track "jefferson shuffle"'s a real grooviie iZborn track. then again a crap one, then a crazy one, then a beautiful downtempo ballad, then ... these guys made just a fun record, without thinkin about the sideeffects. how do i use to say? nice music in the background
