Long known on the jazz dance scene as one of the premier jazz dance classics of all time, 'Nightingale' by the Dee Felice Trio was only released on the B-side of an obscure 7" on the small Terry label in the '60s. The desirability and rarity of the original record has recently seen it change hands for up to Ł400! The trio have not been around for some time now, but we at Jazzman Records have acquired an exclusive license to reissue the track legally for the first time! Perfect for jazz dancing, it's an uptempo drum, bass and piano instrumental with a catchy melody and irresistable foot-tapping latin swing to it! We've also added a bonus B-side too, with Los Brasilios providing a groovy scat femme vocal over some wicked Brasilian beats & rhythms! This is the fourth single release in our innovative 7" reissue series.

Our previous four 45s have been met with worldwide acclaim and this record has all the hallmarks and potential of being just as successful! The original US 7" issue of Letta Mbulu 'What is Wrong with Groovin' and the Japanese LP from Lorez Alexandria featuring 'Send in the Clowns' have seen collectors and DJs around the world throwing their wallets at dealers in attempts to get hold of the originals, but due to rarity and demand few people been lucky enough to see them, let alone own them! So here they are presented for the first time on a double sided 7" for all to hear! Side one features Letta Mbulu and this catchy tune sways beautifully between jazz and soul. A rounded bass peppered with some cheeky bossa licks and thoughtful piano touches add to the jazzy flavour, but it's the soulful vocals that are the icing on the cake. Lorez Alexandria's dreamy vocals compliment a quirky horn-led jazz combo in a stunning off-beat uptempo groove on the other side. Another highly-regarded tune from the genius that is Lorez Alexandria backed with flawless musicianship that few others can rival.

Amongst his 40 or so albums, Murphy also recorded a little-known 45 for Riverside Records in 1962. ‘Why Don’t You Do Right’ is one of those jazz standards that sounds great anytime, and the finger popping rhythms combine with the backing vocals to swing serenely under Murphy’s expert guidance. Liza Minelli said 'There's a party goin' on in Mark's head - and I want to go to it!' If you’re the DJ, make sure this 45 is in your box! Eddie Jefferson was the creator of "Vocalese" and was also one of the great Be-Bop singers. Before he died in 1979 Jefferson remembered the early ‘50s, ‘King Pleasure heard me in Cincinnati when I was working at a place called the Cotton Club with Jack McDuff.’ He enjoyed a longer career than that of Murphy, and was no less hip! His vocals on this version of Horace Silver’s ‘Psychedelic Sally’ have enthused hipsters, listeners and jazz dancers for over 30 years now. It’s on the flipside but could easily be on the A side. Why don’t you do right – sort one out for your DJ box today!
